Your First Minute
No install and no wallet needed to try Hodl Field. Tap Play Now and you spawn at the central fountain in the town square, surrounded by other players wandering the world.
Your $HODL balance sits in the top-right of the screen. Everything you earn is saved automatically — close the tab, come back tomorrow, and your progress is still there.

The town square — with its fountain and wheel — is your home base. The activity zones sit out in the corners of the map, each one dedicated to a single way of earning:
- Fishing pond — calm water for casting and reeling.
- Mining dig site — rock and ore to break.
- Logging yard — trees and timber to chop.
- Wheel of Fortune — behind the fountain, for a quick gamble.
Roads connect every block, so follow them to get around. Glowing crystals for your quest are scattered across the whole map — not just the square — so explore the edges as you travel.
Controls
Hodl Field plays with mouse and keyboard. The defaults:
Inventory
Everything you gather lands in your inventory — open it any time with the backpack icon 🎒 on the right rail. It lists every item you're carrying, with its icon and quantity.
There are three core goods you'll collect across the world:
The Hotbar
Along the bottom of the screen sits your hotbar — six numbered slots that mirror what you're carrying. Your fish, ore, and wood fill the first slots automatically with a live count, so you can see your haul at a glance without opening the full panel.
Selling for $HODL
Items don't earn you anything sitting in the bag — you turn them into coins at the Shop 🛒. Open it from the right rail to see the price of each good, then:
- Tap Sell on any item to cash in just that stack.
- Or hit Sell All to dump everything at once for the full total.
- Your $HODL balance updates instantly and saves automatically.
Gathering: How You Earn
Gathering is the heart of Hodl Field and your steadiest source of $HODL. There are three skills, and each one works the same way: walk to the right spot, press E, then play a short timing mini-game.
A marker bounces across a bar. Hit it inside the green zone for a good result, or nail the small perfect zone in the middle for the biggest payout. You get three hits per attempt.
Fishing
Stand next to the pond and press E to cast. Wait for a bite, then the timing mini-game begins. Reel it in cleanly and the fish — and its $HODL — are yours.
- Miss the timing three times and the fish escapes, so stay focused.
- Better timing means a bigger catch and more coins.
- Fishing is relaxed and reliable — a great place to start.
Mining
Head to the dig site, stand by the rock, and press E to swing your pickaxe. The same timing bar appears — land your hits in the green for ore and $HODL.
- Perfect hits crack the rock for the best yield.
- Your mining animation plays out while you work.
Logging
At the timber yard, walk up to a tree or log and press E to start chopping. Time your axe swings on the bar to stack up wood and coins.
Quests & Crystals
Your first quest is simple: collect 5 glowing crystals scattered across the world for a +50 $HODL bonus. The quest tracker on the left side of the screen shows your progress.
- Crystals glow blue and spin — walk over one to pick it up.
- They respawn around the map, so there's always more to find.
- Daily quests give you fresh goals and rewards each day.
Wheel of Fortune
Behind the fountain in the town square stands the spinner wheel. Walk up to it and press E for a chance at a big $HODL payout — a quick gamble to break up your gathering runs.
It's a fun way to chase a lucky streak, but gathering is still where the steady income comes from.
Multiplayer
Hodl Field is a shared world. Other players move around you in real time, and you'll see their name tags and chat bubbles as you explore.
- Press
Enterto open chat and talk to everyone in your room. - Rooms fill up to a comfortable size, then new ones open automatically — so the world never feels overcrowded.
- The online counter shows how many players are around and which room you're in.
$HODL & Coins
$HODL is the in-game currency you earn from everything you do. It's tracked in the top-right corner and saved to your account automatically.

The $HODL Token
Hodl Field has a community token, $HODL, on the Base network. It connects the game's economy to a wider on-chain community.
- You can play the whole game without ever touching a wallet.
- Connecting a wallet is optional and links your on-chain identity to the world.
- The token contract address is shown on the home page once it goes live.
Cosmetics
Spend your $HODL on outfits and styles to make your character your own. Cosmetics are purely visual — they change how you look, not how you gather or earn.
Open the outfit panel from the menu to preview and equip what you've unlocked.
Saving Progress
Hodl Field saves automatically. Your $HODL balance, inventory, outfit, and quest progress are stored as you play, so you can close the game and pick up right where you left off.
- No manual save button — it just works in the background.
- Use the same browser/device to keep your progress.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
The game won't load or is slow.
Hodl Field runs in 3D in your browser. Use an up-to-date browser, close heavy tabs, and refresh the page. A stable connection keeps the multiplayer world smooth.
My progress didn't save.
Saves need a working connection. If you played in a private/incognito window or cleared your browser data, the local save may have been removed. Stay on the same browser to keep your progress.
The fish keeps escaping.
Watch the bouncing marker and press Space (or tap) when it's inside the green zone. Three misses and the fish gets away — try again, it's free.
I don't see other players.
Real-time multiplayer needs a live connection. Refresh the page; you should reconnect and see other players moving, along with the "online" counter and your room number.
Do I need a wallet or crypto to play?
No. Hodl Field is fully playable for free with no wallet. The $HODL token is an optional community layer on Base.
